NOTE: If you are undergoing treatment via aligners, you will have to remove your aligners while smoking and snacking.

In a large percentage of cases, braces are fixed to the teeth. However, some special cases require removable appliances before, during, or even after fixed braces treatment. Aligners are also removable.

Yes, there are different types of braces. They can be metal or tooth-colored. and even of various shapes or colors. Aligners are also a type of brace treatment. However, the outcome of the treatment is independent of the type of brace.

Aligners are completely clear and transparent, removable, and customized trays that fit on your teeth. They have built-in teeth movements as per the doctor’s plan. As you keep using the aligners and progress in your treatment by changing the aligners every week (or as prescribed) at home; your teeth will move and align. Aligners are effective for even moderate to severe cases due to technological and research-driven advancements in treatment planning and execution, and the manufacturing processes involved.

Why is treatment with aligners more expensive than conventional braces treatment?
The increased cost can be associated with sophisticated software, digital cross-country workflows, and 3D-printed manufacturing equipment. Aligners are customized and made especially for each patient, whereas the majority of conventional braces are mass-produced and therefore, cheaper.

Post-treatment

What happens after my orthodontic treatment is over?
Once your treatment is completed, your braces or attachments (in the case of aligners) will be removed painlessly. This will be followed by thorough cleaning and polishing of your teeth. Your orthodontist will plan what type of retainers you need, if any. You will also be given instructions on how to care for your newly aligned teeth. Your doctor may ask you to visit their clinic periodically for follow-ups.

Do I need to continue visiting my orthodontist after my treatment ends? If yes, how often?

My orthodontist recommends orthodontics implants or mini-screws for my treatment. Why are they needed and are they safe?
Orthodontic implants are small screws usually less than 8-10mm in length. To move teeth, orthodontists need adequate support from other structures. If, for some reason, the surrounding support is weak or inadequate, additional support is needed - orthodontic implants or mini-screws are used. They are safe and are removed when they are no longer needed/ your treatment is complete.

Is orthodontic treatment possible if my gum health is not optimal?
Your orthodontist will assess the health of teeth and their supporting structures. If your gum health is not optimal, they will suggest the appropriate course of action before initiation of orthodontic treatment.
